The Try That Never Was…….
We went to watch the game at the Galaxy Sports Bar in Seminyak – a few SAFFAS amongst the hundreds of Ozzies. Claiming Pat Lambie’s try big time…..good times….sad to loose….

Tomorrow is my last day in Bali. Very sad to be leaving – I’ve had an amazing time. Back to Europe, back to grovel mode. Did I mention that this has been like one of the best trips ever?!

Still having a whale of a time in Bali. The winds and conditions haven’t been ideal, but being in paradise, it’s easy not to care. If I can surf twice a day, I am very happy! And since when did Uluwatu get so crowded?!

After the contest we had a good run of waves for a day or two and then like all things in life, it just stopped. So most days we just cruised and enjoyed life in Bali – how could you not enjoy life in Bali!?
On our last day there we took a sail boat to Lembongan Island for the day with the Billabong Team…… Good times.
Bali – Oakley Pro Junior – Dale Staples gets 2nd!!!
Everyone knew that if it was barreling, Dale Staples was the man to beat. And he most definitely didn’t disappoint. Dropping huge scores in every heat for the impossible tube – rides he came flying out of time after time. I would almost have to say he was the favourite going into the Final. Unfortunately only one really decent wave came through in the Final and Jack Freestone was on it. Dale is currently getting stitches for a broken champagne bottle almost cutting off his finger – what a pansy!! Haha. Well done Dale!! Stoked for you brother!!

I also managed to get barreled. And do a turn. And snap a good board (sad face).
Started off having an early surf at Kerammas today, which was cut a bit short when I was informed I had to surf my round 3 heat – I made it, stoked…. Beyrick surfed an amazing heat, but unfortunately couldn’t get a back-up wave. Chad, Dale and Brendon get to surf their round 3 heats at Kerammas, I’m pretty jealous hahaha…..

These photo’s were taken in the free-surf next to the contest site today at Canggu. Round 1 and half of round 2 has been completed. The waves have been firing. The level of surfing has been sky-high and over all it’s been good to be part of the contest so far. Oh, and all the SA boys are still going which is sick!!!
Bali – Oakley Pro Junior Day 1
Day 1 of the Oakley Pro Junior World Champs is over. We started off with a traditional ceremony to bless everyone and bring good waves. It’s a bit weird, but it’s really cool to experience their culture first hand. The girls round one was surfed – the waves weren’t really good. It was good to hang out with all the Saffa boys for a couple hours at the beach, especially “U2″s main connection Greg Emslie. After almost melting, me and Dale retired to the pool, Dale also plastered himself with makeup and ate at least 5 MiGoreng’s.

So we are in Bali for the Oakley Pro Junior World Champs stop 1 of 2. I have nothing bad to say about Bali, this place is paradise! I just wish my aircon would work, cause it’s HOT! We have had some waves and me and Dale are staying in 5* accommodation…… Life is good……
bali bombings
The Bali Bombings on 12 October 2002 were tragic. Everything is fixed, the bombers are killed and imprisoned, but it will probably never be forgotten. Visited the memorial today. The parking lot is where the massive explosion went of at the Sari club, 20 seconds after the one at Paddy’s club. Hopefully this never happens again……

Did a beautiful hairstyle for a very serious portrait at Canngu….. It’s actually a hideous hairstyle and not serious at all……. Having an amazing time in Bali….
Also well done to Julian Wilson for winning the 6* at Arugam Bay last week…. He was the man to beat all week, especially on the day of the finals, when it matters most! A very deserved winner……

Day 1 in Bali has been goooooood. Had 2 really fun surfs at Canngu with Brendon. I really want to get barreled soon, starting to get withdrawals……
