It’s All Happening Durban

Chris Leppan, Myself, Matt Hewitt, Dale Staples and Matt Bromley at the SA Surfing Awards. Thanks to Zigzag for an amazing night and congrats to all the winners!

Red Bull x Jordy Smith Nighshift at Northbeach. Flood lights were set up and all the boys were getting whipped in at night. It was pretty crazy to surf in front of such a huge crowd at nigh! Hope I get the chance to do it again next year. Pics by Kolesky.

Last, but not least the Mr Price Pro is on at Ballito. They have only done 9 heats of Rd1 so far, but hopefully the waves pick up and we can get amongst it!!

Africa Project Teaser

Check out the trailer of Jason Hearne’s movie, The Africa Project. If you are in South Africa on the 25th of November go check it out at Trinity, 15 Bennet Street, Green Point, Cape Town. Thanks Jay for making a movie about the South African boys and including me in the project!

Code Red: Zarautz, Spain

Typhoon “Jacomina Hendriena” slammed into the Zarautz coastline and forced organizers of the San Miguel Pro to put the contest on hold. Lefts, rights and “fat lips” exploded onto the beach. The tow-in session will not be broadcasted live – in fact, even that was cancelled !!!!

Lone paddle boarder stuck in the middle of the bay waiting for the rescue helicopter.

Slow Shutter Surf

Had some super fun waves at Innerpool yesterday arvo with no-one out. The light wasn’t great, so my dad played around with the shutter speed. I really like the final product!

Hawaii

Firstly, well done to my house mate Heath Joske on making the final at Haleiwa. Joel Parkinson won, but Heathy (with the best Mustache for Movember in my books) did us all proud, surfing from round 1.

We have had some really good waves lately. Been surfing a lot. It’s been good. Thanks to Sasha ‘Spex’ Specker for the surf shots!!

Bye Bye Canaries

The Canaries was good – good waves, good times. I am in San Francisco on my way to Hawaii right now. Can’t wait to see all my friends I have been hanging with or haven’t seen in a while. Well, I am excited to say the least.

Caleta De Famara….

My time in Famara has come to an end, but I still have lots to look forward to, because apparently the next contest in Gran Canaries also has amazing waves! I enjoyed my time at this little seaside village and I can’t wait to come back next year…. Out

Lanzarote

Been in Canaries for a couple days now. It’s like dessert-at-the-beach vibe. It’s ridiculously hot, but the waves are very good! It’s a pretty interesting place, I’ve really been enjoying my time here. Hopefully the waves keep flowing…..

J’Bay Diary; Billabong Pro 2010; Day -1

Looks as if we are going to jump into a start on the first day…….according to predictions the swell will start building during the night and the call is for an early 07h30 start.

First to surf will be the VC wildcards…….then round ONE……PSYCHED….!!!!!!

Check out the action live at Billabong Pro website.

J’Bay Diary; Billabong Pro; 2010 Day -10

Once a year, coinciding with the winter swell,  the “big boys” arrive to surf the J’Bay Billabong Pro. Me and my buddies used to run around like crazy to catch a glimpse of Kelly, Mick, Parko…….or maybe a signature……..or the best of all, to sit in the line-up and catch a wave or two with our idols……

This year I get to surf the contest.

Got a wildcard entry from Billabong.

Can’t wait….it’s the best.

Gonna keep a photo diary – check it out !!!

the hillton – sri lanka

Our hotel is called the Hillton, but it’s definately a fake. There is no chance that Paris and her family built this place or will ever be caught dead spending a night here. It’s still prime location pretty close to the surfspot and the staff is really friendly. The restaurant makes a pretty decent meal too, but not compared to real Hiltton’s…..

drive thru sri lanka

We (me, Dale and my dad) have arrived in Sri-Lanka’s Arugam Bay after a hell mission including a 10 hour drive from Colombo…. The wave here is quite fun and some swell is expected for the event…. The accommodation is also kinda dodgy…. And by far the hottest place I’ve ever visited, but still lots of fun…..

at home.

Been home for a while now. It’s been really fun staying home, surfing with all my friends and just having a good time. Some shots of my good friends surfing….

disappointed….

The Cambridge dictionary defines disappointed as: unhappy because someone or something was not as good as you hoped or expected, or because something did not happen.

I liked the YourDictionary definition better: Displeased, dissatisfied, discouraged, frustrated, let down, unsatisfied, despondent, depressed, objecting, complaining, distressed, downcast, hopeless, disconcerted, disgruntled, disillusioned, shot down.

Right now, I should be in the skies over the Indian Ocean on my way to Indo for a Mentawi boat trip…..things went wrong….some guys pulled out……

Surfing Mossels with my friends is just as good.

Brims Ness…..O’Neill Coldwater Classic

We’ve been surfing at Brims Ness for the first few days of the O’Neill Coldwater Classic. All the SAFFA’s were out there free surfing until around 8 o’clock last night – almost froze to death – could not feel my feet at all. Some swell is predicted and the contest will probably move to Thurso East tomorrow.

We also took a drive to John O’Groats house – the most Northern house in Scotland – after that it’s just a few Islands and then the North Pole !!!!

Goodbye Australia….. I’m going home…..

Me questioning the conditions, turned out to be pretty fun…. Tasmania was fun. We had a camper van, so wherever we went, we were warm and had somewhere to make food ect. so it was pretty enjoyable to say the least. The waves were really good for our short stay, but I am so exited to go home. I’ve learnt a lot and met lots of interesting people in my two months abroad, but going home is just…. there’s no place like home is there!?

Tasmania… beautiful!
