It’s All Happening Durban

Chris Leppan, Myself, Matt Hewitt, Dale Staples and Matt Bromley at the SA Surfing Awards. Thanks to Zigzag for an amazing night and congrats to all the winners!

Red Bull x Jordy Smith Nighshift at Northbeach. Flood lights were set up and all the boys were getting whipped in at night. It was pretty crazy to surf in front of such a huge crowd at nigh! Hope I get the chance to do it again next year. Pics by Kolesky.

Last, but not least the Mr Price Pro is on at Ballito. They have only done 9 heats of Rd1 so far, but hopefully the waves pick up and we can get amongst it!!

West Australia Life

The Telstra Drug Aware Pro finished almost a week ago, with John Florence winning, comfortably. I have decided to hang around here, because the waves are sick and I really like it here. I would have to say this is my favourite contest of the year! In other unrelated news, the surfing world has lost one of it’s biggest legends, Michael Peterson. RIP

It’s good to be back.

So good to be back in West Aus. It’s definitely my one of my favourite stops on the tour. Frothing for 2 weeks in this joint!

Bali

Just found these two photo’s from Bali last year. Can’t wait to go back again! Love that joint….

Hawaii

Late season Hawaii is the best! We have had constant waves for about 6 days now. Although there is a huge swell coming. Like 20/25 feet huge. I’m kinda fearing. It’s been nice to see everyone after the break and catch up with friends from all over the world. We really do have the best job in the world!

California Snapshots

It’s time to go to Hawaii! I had a sick week in California and can’t wait to spend more time here through the year! I got a bank account, social security number, looked at cars, got a bicycle, coached with Ian Cairns and surfed a different spot everyday. Good times!

Arty People Are Naturally Arty

I am not an artist. But Clement de Bruin is. An amazing artist I might add! I dunno if I wanna take the board into the ocean or not. Anyway check out Clement’s sight (clementdebruin.com). You won’t regret it!

T-Street, San Clemente

This is my new home break. It doesn’t look like much, but it has produced many generations of world class surfers, from Matt Archbold to Kolohe Andino. Hopefully it works some magic on me too…..

December Sessions

Been having some super fun waves, complete with a guy playing us some tunes while we surf.

Round and Round we Go……..

.The web surf predictions sent us up and down the Garden Route hoping to catch some epic waves….we missed everything….too early, too late, wrong predictions, eech. Only “Surfline” had it right. Next time……

Trestles Warm-Up

Had a warm-up out at Trestles with what seemed like the whole tour, but that’s probably because the waves were about 30min apart. Really fun when they came though!

Slow Shutter Surf

Had some super fun waves at Innerpool yesterday arvo with no-one out. The light wasn’t great, so my dad played around with the shutter speed. I really like the final product!

From One Extreme To The Next

From the laid-back town of Famara (Lanzarote) to the hustle-and-bustle city life of Las Palmas (Gran Canaria). Two complete opposites, in everything but waves – they both have pretty amazing waves, which makes both destinations enjoyable.

Caleta De Famara….

My time in Famara has come to an end, but I still have lots to look forward to, because apparently the next contest in Gran Canaries also has amazing waves! I enjoyed my time at this little seaside village and I can’t wait to come back next year…. Out

cape town = over……

Had a really fun surf with my two good friends on my last day in the Mother City. I’m home now trying some new boards and getting amped for Europe!!!

My good friends Peppi and Muller.

Some fun peaks at Derdesteen.

Dooma

Dooma lives in the US now and has gone full-on Hollywood…..or paparazzi….or whatever…..apart from being a pro surfer he also does the “skindernuus” of the tour. Check out his blog Dooma’s Rumours.

greg emslie does it again…..

Well what can I say about Greg Emslie. He has won another contest…. If he wasn’t such an absolute legend I would’ve been over him winning almost every contest he has entered this year (3 out of 4). I couldn’t think of a more deserving winner of the O’niell CWC Cape Town. He had the hardest half of the draw and dominated every heat. His trophy looks amazing too!! I’m kinda jealous of that thing….. I was happy with my 5th finish, although I felt I should’ve made my heat, catching a wave with seconds to spare and not being counted for “standing up after the siren”. Whatever… Well done Emmo’s!!!!!

Me earlier in the day….

Lomography

No, these are not my photo’s….. I really do want to be able to take photo’s like this with my Lomography Camera. I might just go buy a new one while in Cape Town just to make myself feel more capable of creating such art! I’ve got a bit of a film camera fetish….
