Desert Dreaming – WA Clip

Freemantle, Perth for a day

The waves were terrible and we had a late night flight so we decided to check out Freemantle, Perth with Damien Fahrenfort. Good times!!

West Australia Life

The Telstra Drug Aware Pro finished almost a week ago, with John Florence winning, comfortably. I have decided to hang around here, because the waves are sick and I really like it here. I would have to say this is my favourite contest of the year! In other unrelated news, the surfing world has lost one of it’s biggest legends, Michael Peterson. RIP

Burned

Margaret River area has suffered some pretty bad bush fires lately. It makes for really nice photo’s by day and night, but it sucks to see the really pretty landscape all burned down. Hopefully everything goes back to normal!

It’s good to be back.

So good to be back in West Aus. It’s definitely my one of my favourite stops on the tour. Frothing for 2 weeks in this joint!

Last Day In Western Australia

Me

West Aus is a really special place and definitely one of my favourite spots in the world. It’s really sad to leave the place…. My last day was so fun and eventful it made leaving even worse. Had a really fun surf at Big Rock, saw Damien Hobgood take out the mens event and Courtney Conologue take out the womens event, sat on the porch with Matt Bromley while the sun was setting and remembered the good times…….

Contest and an air

The contest set-up (tower, VIP area’s, wave ect) is a spectacle in itself without the world’s best shredding. The contest sponsors have really hooked everyone up and mother nature has delivered, which is all you want at an event. I’m having a lot of fun hanging at the contest watching heats and also surfing other spots. West Aus is surfers heaven!!

the “black panty” scandal…

Creed, myself, Chad and Dale sitting outside our cabin at Margaret River.

We had a lay-day and decided to do some washing……combined all the washing and also added my dad’s and Darryl’s as well. This is where the problem started….. If you look closely you will see a very “naughty” black panty hanging among our washing. Obviously the dads blamed us (Chad does look a bit guilty), but after spending 2 weeks with the Staples, I think Darryl has some explaining to do…..he is not a model law-abiding citizen – spent too much time in Kavookie country!!! “What happens on tour,  stays on tour” ….. heh

tourisimo……..

On the road…..not much swell today…..so Darryl took us touring west aus…

Lake Cave….

Voyager Wine Estate for some wine tasting…….hehe…….we have no idea what we are doing…….this is definitely for the larneys only !!

Down-town Perth

Farewell West Aus, Well Done Josh Kerr

We are sitting at Perth Airport awaiting our flight to Hobart, Tasmania, the final leg of my Australian trip, for the 6* Oniell Coldwater Classic. Western Australia was really fun. It’s a very laid back place (a lot like home) and we had some really fun waves. The talk of the town was the final of the Drug Aware Pro between Josh Kerr and Taj Burrow. Taj had it in the bag, he had comboed Josh. With 5 minutes left Josh launched a return attack, which must be one of the finest comebacks in the sport. He scored a perfect 10-point ride and backed it up with a 7 a few minutes later. It was amazing and inspiring to witness…..

Another day chilling in West Aus

We had some really fun waves today at Gas and enjoyed a good ol’ Aussie meat pie… They never disappoint after a long surf.
