Had a warm-up out at Trestles with what seemed like the whole tour, but that’s probably because the waves were about 30min apart. Really fun when they came though!
Me and travel partnner Dale Staples (yes, he is back from injury) have arrived in the US of A. The waves were small, but it was good to get in the water and get a feel for the SoCal waves.
Who do you reckon had the last laugh in this fight? Me or ‘The Cage Fighter’ Dale Staples. Only kidding, he broke a bone in his hand surfing and I took a board to the face.
In Gisborne, New Zealand at the moment for the first Cold Water Classic of 2011. We have had some fun waves, despite the horrendous weather. Dale has also managed to injure himself. Let’s hope it’s not too serious……
Alan Van Geysen, water-photographer, Captain of the motorboat….
Dale Staples, Mikey February, Dane Staples, Matt Bromley
Good times on a boat in the Maldives……during the filming of Jason Hearn’s movie “15Below”. Good crew, Woods brothers James and Thomas, Staples brothers Dane and Dale, Nick Godfrey, Brendon Gibbens, Mikey February, myself. Jason did the filming and Alan did the photos for Zigzag.
Couple shot’s I took in Fernando, Brazil. Its a really beautiful place (when it’s not raining), with some super fun waves. We had a blast driving around the buggy.
We are in Brazil for the WQS 6*Prime “Hange Loose Pro” on the island of Fernando de Noronha in Brazil. It’s always been a good hunting ground for the Saffa’s with Warwick Wright winning it a few years ago. Myself and Travis are still fighting in the quaterfinals on different sides of the draw and hopefully we can hang in there and meet in the final – that would be cool……
Dale and Daryl pre-heat at the World Juniors in Narrabeen, Australia. Dale only needed to make his heat against Nat Young in the quaters to be crowned overall u/20 World Champion…….so close….what a pity !!!! That honour went to Jack Freestone from Oz, the winner of the Bali event.
Marc Lacomare from France won the Narrabeen event, beating Nat Young in the final…….well done to the “French Stallion” – he was in form the whole contest and deserved the victory.
The World Juniors is in full swing. The waves have been fun, despite a slight blue bottle problem. Bianca Beautendag is in the girls semi’s – a massive result! A few top seeds have also lost so it’s wide open for guys in the running for the title…. Oh, the opening fuction was sick, guys playing didgeridoos…
